New features

Over the past few months we've been working on a big release that we're excited to finally unveil. All Makeswift sites are now powered by our brand new Next.js renderer hosted by the Vercel Edge!

So what does this mean for you?

  • All your Makeswift sites are now powered by the best-in-class Next.js framework and are hosted in Vercel — a platform built by Next.js' team for Next.js websites.
  • All the wonderful optimizations that Next.js provides, including responsive image optimizations, bundle size optimizations, blazing fast client side routing with pre-fetching, and more, will be enabled by default for your sites in the near future. Look for an update on this soon.

All you have to do is follow these instructions to start getting all these benefits with zero downtime to your site:

  • Update CNAME records from pages.makeswift.com or *.pages.makeswift.com variants to makeswift.site. There's no need to include your site's subdomain, just makeswift.site.
  • Update A records to point to 76.76.21.21.
  • Ensure your snippets will be compatible with client-side routing when it becomes live. You can read about this process here.

IMPORTANT: We'll be shutting down our legacy renderer which currently powers your site on September 15, 2021 so please make the move as soon as possible. If you don't update your DNS your site will go offline on September 15, 2021.

If you have any questions about the migration process or need help figuring out how to properly update your snippets, don't hesitate to reach out.

Go ahead and build.
